SURFACE:  IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS!

Bridget Hauser of Sunset Canyon POttery (A production pottery & teaching studio) will demonstrate three different surface enhancements used in the creation of her personal line of decorative ware.

     •  Chattering & Carving
     •  The "Steve Tool"
     •  The effects of expanding a pot with sodium silicate on the surface

Each of these techniques she uses as the base or background for the applique's that turn a pitcher, vase or teapot into a canvas for "nature collages".

"Throwing and creating beautiful forms was just the beginning.  There came a time when the surface of my vessels just started begging for more and my soul just had to answer.  What ends up on a form:  leaves, sticks, nuts, lichens, bits of bark and fungi are all icons of cycles.  The textures represent the rich mulch of natures history, a medium for growth and seasonal change. -  Bridget Hauser
