Slip casting molds are used in a pottery-forming process where slip (liquid clay) is
poured into plaster molds. The newly cast object is then removed from the mold
and the process is started again. Press molds are similar to casting molds but
they utilize a moist clay body that is pressed into or draped over rather than poured.
Press molds also absorb moisture out of the clay body stiffening the clay and
allowing the given form to set.
