Extruders are typically vertical (wall mounted) or horizontal (attached to equipment) barrels of varying shape and size, used to compress soft clay. It forces the clay through a plate with a shaped opening known as a die. The pressure on the clay causes a hollow tube or solid "rope" to extrude out which is then cut off and used alone, as in tile making, or as an addition to other objects, such as handles or spouts.

NORTH STAR EQUIPMENT
STANDARD 4" EXTRUDERS
The North Star standard extruders come in two models which are mechanically identical. The only differences are in the materials and finish. Both are wall mounted 4 inch square barrels that hold about 8 lbs. of clay. This smaller barrel size allows for a single pivot handle design which is safer than the detachable ratcheting handle designs. Both use the same dies and both carry a lifetime guarantee (extends to original purchaser only).
STANDARD EXTRUDER: Has a regular steel barrel and the entire extruder is powder coated. Comes with the Basic Die Set (see below). This extruder is not recommended for use with porcelains, pure white stoneware or in situations where clay remains in it for any length of time as corrosion may occur that can discolor the clay.
