These instructions walk you through the process of replacing 3 Heat switches in KilnSitter Kilns. All KilnSitter models use 3-Heat switches except for models 818, 818P, 183, 185, and 614 which use an Infinite Switch. These instructions are for installing the old style 3 heat switch which is no longer available. If you have purchased a 3-Heat switch recently please use the “New Style 3-Heat Switch Conversion Instructions”.

These instructions are for replacing Shut Off Tubes in all Skutt KilnSitter kilns.

These instructions are for replacing Type P Shut Off Tubes which are often used in non-Skutt Kiln Models.

Wiring Harness Replacement
The KM Wiring Harness includes all of the control wires and wires to and from the relays. Basically all of the wiring behind the heat baffle except for the power cord. In April of 2009 we increased the gauge of these wires. This resulted in the relays running a little cooler and thus extending their life. Therefore, it is a good idea to replace these wires in older kilns when you are replacing relays. The wiring diagrams will vary based on the controller version and Kiln Model. All of these configurations can be found in the document below.
